CCSMH – Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health – Federal Election 2006

Federal Election 2006

Canadians headed to the polls on January 23, 2006. In order to ensure that seniors’ mental health issues are identified during and following this election, the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health prepared a position paper that was sent out with a cover letter to the national party leaders. Leaders were asked the following two questions:

  • Given the alarming statistics pertaining to seniors’ mental health, what is your party’s stance on seniors’ mental health issues and your commitment to meeting the mental health needs of seniors and aging caregivers?
  • What is your party’s commitment to ensuring the establishment of the Canadian Mental Health Commission, recently recommended by Senator Kirby and the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology?

Leaders were invited to respond to the questions and informed that their responses would be posted on the CCSMH website.
