National ECHO Program: Geriatric Mental Health

The Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health and Baycrest Health Services have partnered on occasion to host special nation-wide ECHO programs focused on the mental health of older adults.

What to Expect

These “all teach, all learn” virtual 90-minute sessions provide a platform for diving into a specific topic—both research and practice. Each session begins with a didactic presentation delivered by an expert in the field which is followed by a brief Q & A. Then, one of the learners presents a real-life case study, usually complex and complicated. Once the case study is best understood, the learning group participates in a problem-solving exercise that results in several practical suggestions and ideas that the case presenter could consider. Following the session, the case presenter is provided with a summary of those suggestions.

Who Should Participate and How?

Participation in an ECHO series is through a registration process. Future series will be promoted on this page, in our newsletter and on our social media channels. Any individual working in the health care field is welcome to participate. The many disciplines (e.g., nurse, PSW, physician, geriatrician, OT, PT, social worker, pastoral care worker) enrich discussions and encourages learners to think outside the box. Together, they learn and share with the goal of enhancing care for patients locally.
